In February of 2023, Shopify announced a new certification program for Shopify app developers called Built for Shopify. The ‘Built for Shopify’ label represents a set of criteria that an app needs to meet. This includes:

• Security & Safety: Needs to use the latest APIs, support a clean uninstall process, and doesn't use Asset API (i.e., having access to the theme files)
• Performance: Needs to pass all the performance criteria both in admin and storefront
• Design & UX: Needs to pass the latest App Design Guidelines
• App Listing & Usage: Needs to have an app listing that is accurate and updated without using any spamming techniques. Also, it must have at least 50 installs and 5 reviews.

With this new certification, Bold Upsell is among 500 apps which are 'Built for Shopify' certified, out of the 13K+ apps in the app store! This means Bold Upsell ranks in the top 4% of all apps, across all categories.

This is a certification that we are very proud of as it's not one you can pay for. You can only earn the Built for Shopify certification by meeting Shopify's highest standards of integration, and by optimizing for the highest levels of performance.
